from the black flame of a candle so cold
i watch the eyes in the mirror, they look so old
visions and memories, from a story that's been told
emptiness descends on a criminal soul
can you see through the darkness, of the flame so deep
the breath from the throat of a soldier so weak
the blood pours from a cut he can't defeat
lay down the beast, close his eyes - he must sleep
when the window on the wall of the mind does fall
a flashback of a place in a space where he crawled
take the chance to glance at the face on the wall
he was a good soul, a child after all
somewhere along the line he came to know
goodness and evil, takes a shine to the place he must go
water and soil feeds the plant, for the seeds to grow
warriors and warlocks, take the time to steal the show
from the black flame of a candle so cold
i watch the leafs on this tree, they look so old
roots and branches about a story that's been told
when emptiness descends, the leafs will fold
